This project focused on assessing the value chains for rural tourism, milk, and fruit production across nine communities in Vayots Dzor and three other marzes of Armenia. Our team was tasked with analyzing the current state of these key sectors, aiming to identify strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for growth in each value chain. The goal was to produce comprehensive assessment reports that would provide actionable insights for fostering rural development in the selected regions. To achieve this, we employed a multifaceted methodology that included both the collection and analysis of secondary data, such as existing reports and statistical information, as well as primary data gathered through field research, interviews, and surveys with local stakeholders.
Additionally, we conducted focus group meetings with community members and expert consultations with industry specialists to gain a deeper understanding of local challenges and potential development strategies. Based on the findings, our team developed a detailed package of recommendations aimed at strengthening the milk, fruit, and rural tourism sectors. This package included a strategic action plan with specific steps and timelines for enhancing productivity, improving market access, and increasing the overall economic resilience of the communities involved. The recommendations were designed to be practical and tailored to the unique needs of each value chain, ensuring that the proposed solutions would effectively drive sustainable development in the region.
