This project involved conducting a thorough socio-economic study of Armenia for Heifer Project International, using a wide range of available secondary data. The study served as a foundational resource for shaping Heifer’s interventions in Armenia over the coming years. It provided an in-depth analysis of various aspects of the Armenian economy, including macroeconomic indicators, key economic sectors, labor markets, social protection systems, poverty, education and youth, tourism, and more.
A significant emphasis was placed on the agricultural sector, with a particular focus on the value chains of fruits and milk production. The study included detailed assessments of these value chains, identifying areas for improvement and potential for growth. Based on these insights, a series of recommendations were developed to enhance the efficiency and productivity of fruit and milk production in Armenia. These recommendations aimed to support sustainable agricultural practices and improve the livelihoods of those working within these value chains, contributing to broader socio-economic development in the region.
