CAFSEP Project Launches Seedling Distribution and Tree-Planting Activities

On March 19, tree-planting and seedling distribution activities were launched in Debedavan and Haghtanak settlements of Tavush marz under the “Climate-Adaptive Food Security Enhancement Project” (CAFSEP). As part of the project, 200 beneficiary households will receive diversified support packages, including seedlings.

The activities were carried out within the framework of CAFSEP project with participation of the consortium implementing “Rural Development and Agriculture Consultant” (RDAC) services — “Avenue Consulting Group” LLC and “3R Strategy” LLC — as well as representatives from the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia and the World Food Programme (WFP). Beneficiaries were also introduced to proper tree-planting techniques, follow-up care, and cultivation practices aimed at supporting healthy growth and sustainable results.

“Climate-Adaptive Food Security Enhancement Project (CAFSEP)” is financed through Asian Development Bank (ADB) by Japan Fund for Prosperous and Resilient Asia and the Pacific (JFPR). Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia acts as implementing agency, while World Food Programme (WFP) serves as technical advisory institution.

CAFSEP aims to support Government of Armenia in strengthening resilience of agricultural livelihoods and improving food security in rural areas highly vulnerable to climate change impacts. Focus areas include Shirak and Tavush marzes. Final objective is to enhance climate adaptability of selected rural communities and households.
